But I have one basic question; When starting up a G3 PCI Mac w/ extension
OFF... ...what will it do?? I am used to G3-modified nubus Macs, which of
course
retain the original processors...

The software you got with the G3 upgrade includes an extension to make the
on-the-upgrade-card cache work; you'd have a G3 that isn't as fast as it
could be. And I think it puts that extension at the top of the list, so it
wouldn't even boot as fast as it should.
