Help!

8500, system 8.6. I noticed that I kept losing my mouse off on one edge of
the screen. Realized that the computer thought there are 2 monitors (there
have never been 2 monitors). I was fooling around with the "Monitors and Sound"
control panel, and I accidentally made it so that all that is on the screen is
the background pattern. No icons whatsoever. Ahhhhgggghhhh!

There must be some easy way to switch between active monitors. Thanks in
advance for your help.

Do you have something plugged into the composite or S-Video Out ports? That will enable video display on those ports. Try shutting down, disconnecting anything from those ports and starting up again.
