Sorry , I don't speak "Office". You CAN network the two machines over "LocalTalk" by plugging them together via, say the printer port, using a serial cable. Go to the AppleTalk Control Panel, turn on AppleTalk and assign it to the printer port. Do this on both machines. Then on at least one machine go to the File Sharing Control Panel and enable file sharing. Find this machine in the other's chooser and away you go. Make sure all your Mac OS * extensions are on, by the way.
There is a better (faster=speedier connection) way to do this. Get a "crossover cable made at your local PC shop. It's just a Ethernet cable (cat 5 cable w/ RJ-45 ends) that has the ends set up opposite from one another. There is a chance you my need a "TwistedPair transceiver" (to allow using RJ-45 connectors) for the PowerBook if it has the older AAUI ethernet plug. Go through the same motions w/ the AppleTalk Control Panel (this time choosing built in ethernet) and get FileSharing running. The data transfer speed will but MUCH more enjoyable to deal with. LocalTalk over serial can be SO slow if you're transferring a fair amount of data. hth -Scott --- Kevin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I bought a PowerBook 520C that has MS Office 98 > installed.
