Stuff like this could only happen to me...
I attempted to turn on my 9500 this morning only to not have it power up on
me either from the keyboard or the unit's power button. While the thought of
a dead power supply went through my head, I decided to do the typical song
and dance. I replace my Newertech G3 Upgrade card with the original 9500
card to see if it was in fact a dead card. I also removed one of my video
cards (thinking it was dead) because the last time I had the Mac on, the
settings weren't kept for the monitors. All this to no avail, so I decided
to hold down the cuda switch for a good 20 seconds. No good... I even tried
removing the battery for a half hour to let the computer forget it's PRAM
and that didn't work.
My guess it's a power supply. If so, is there anything else I could do to
the machine to make sure it's a dead power supply before I run out and order
one on ebay? Is there a correct song and dance for using the CUDA switch?
The story goes that 2 days ago I copied all the valuable data from my pc
onto the 9500 so I could format the PC. I was in fact going to start up the
Mac this morning to copy everything back. Now that the 9500 won't start, all
that info is stuck on there.
I appreciate and help,
Alan
