This is probably OT but I really don't want to sign up for another list just to find out if I need to trash a nubus computer. I've got a Performa 6320 that has been up to now completely faithful for 8 years. The drive died about a month ago and we replaced it with another drive. Everything ran just fine until this afternoon. I did get a failed start up yesterday with a nubus error warning but it worked fine after a forced reboot.
Sounds like a dead PRAM battery...IIRC some of these models will not boot without a functioning PRAM battery.
