I don't know about the rest of the world, but here in my world My 2 Winmodems run just fine on a powermac 9500 and a G3 Desktop.
U.S. Robotics 56k external modems, no special software or drivers, just needed mac modem cables.
Then they are not WinModems. That is a specific type of modem, not simply a modem sold for Windows.

Many PCI Modems are WinModems and need software
running on the
computer to actually provide the modem function. Software for doing
this on the Mac has never been written to my
