When I bought my 17-inch blue studio display for my 7500 it came with a
straight through (no dip switch) adapter, Apple P/N 513-0091-A. I never used it
since my video card had a VGA port. Looking in my spare parts box Belkin makes a
similar adapter, Mac 17" VAG MultiSync DB15P/HDDB15S adapter P/N F3963.

Perhaps you could find such adapters or an inexpensive PCI video card with a
VGA port on the LEM-Swap list? A decent video card would give you better
performance.
