Most of those word processor things used DOS formatted disks.
I fear it could be worse than that. I had a similar problem with a dedicated Wordprosser, (it even looked like an early Mac with its 9 inch screen) and the format was cpm (the precurser of dos). I had to go to a Doze machine, run a cpm emulator (available for free) and transfer the text to DOS for my Mac.
