It is a WeeCam,
given away by Earthlink to new subscribers a year or so ago, complete with Mac
and PC software. The Mac software requires OS 9.1, (got that) QT 3.x or better
(using 6.0.2 Pro) and OT/AppleTalk 2.x. (using 2.7.6) Works on another of my
Macs with no problem with VM on, but not with VM off.
Thats the same P.O.S. I was asking about. Looking around the web, a lot of other people it appears are looking for a X driver for this thing also. - Thanks for the link Bruce, but no luck there either. I used to have a few of these things - earthlink kept mailing me another one every time I complained about what a horrible ISP they are - I ended up using them for trades.
David what version of the quick cam software are you using in OS 9.x? I have 1.0.5 which I think was the last version before Alaris went under. Mine works fine in 9.2 and 9.1 without VM on. My cams only came with a disk for PC's and a little card telling you to go DL the driver for Macs from the Alaris site, which no longer exist. If you want me to email you a copy let me know (208k)- maybe your copy is just flaked out. and BTW , I don't use apple talk for anything so it's always off , maybe you've got something going on there also, QT is the same. Another thing is that the driver for the cam messes with the old apple video player/video start up extension also. I can get an image from the cam in the video player app, but then that reeks havoc with the onboard video ports on the 8600. I can get an image from it in a few other video apps also - BTV, etc - anything that supports a usb input, but obviously you need a properly functioning driver first.
