The GV and probably the Supra are both Mac Specific modems. Their serial ports can operate on a positive power supply only so they can use a DC supply. These are possibly the only two brands like this.


The USR like most if not all machine non-specific need to generate + and - power for their RS-232 interface. This can be done very simply using an AC input.
