Even when you have a special address you use just for lists, you might get spam on that name. Even on closed lists that do not publish their archives that expose the posters' addresses to the public, it is possible that spammers join just to cull addresses. I would HOPE that anyone joining a list like this would not use our addresses for these purposes but you never know. Also, I once discovered that someone had posted my words on their website without my permission and lo and behold, there was my address, exposed to spammers. The words are still there. :-( A compliment they used my writing, but then I had to take measures to stop the spam.
