This is a resend as the listmom sent a letter saying that most of my mail was bouncing. Maybe (with luck) that's why I had no responses...we'll try this again.
I'm having space disappear on my hardrive; about a gig comes & goes. I think (so far) that when I stop using the RAM disk, the storage returns to its full 1.3 remaining. Otherwise, it drops to about 360mb. Rebuilding and or zapping temporarily brings back full memory/space but only for a short while.. I have put another system on a different partition and it does the same thing......Also, I think I remember starting off another hard drive a couple weeks ago and it gave an error on startup that said "the RAM disk cannot be used with this computer" or something to that effect....anyone have a clue to help me get this back on its feet?
Well, turn off the persistent RAM disk in the Memory control panel..if it's off, toss your memory preferences.
Make sure you have VM off...that would correspond to the 1G of diask space you're losing. VM is not supposed to work when you have that much memory, but that limitation might not have been implemented until after 8.6 was long out, as it wasn't possible to get to 1G memory in any apple system when 8.6 was released.
