I only suggested this because, installing 8.6 may have overwritten some of the required extensions for IE, and by installing IE again, the newer versions needed for the browser to run will be replaced.
I've used 5.1.6 and it's fine.......

no extension is needed, unless you run outlook or some other microsoftneeding application - the browser just uses that one extension and reinstalling the IE does not equal that it will take out any old extensions from your extension folder - it does not kindly remove anything - it just lets them pile up more and wasting space and maybe lots of problem. When I checked I had internet explorer 3 - 4 & 5 in there, so my suggestion remains throw microsoft extensions all out and use 5.1 and up. My experience is that 5.1.6 does not work with 8.6 on a PCI, you need to go back to 5.1 and not 5.0 - because the are quite different. LOVEK
Hi all; In regards to IE 5.1.6 running on OS 8.6. I have 2 Performa 6360's, a G3 266DT and a G3-300MT all running OS 8.6 and IE 5.1.6 with no problems. I've got remnants from IE 3.0.1 to 4.5 that I need to clean out when I don't feel so lazy. ;=) HTH
Might as well through in my three 5500/225s and the two 5400/180s that have OS 8.0 and running IE 5.1.6 without and problems....
