What you need is the ServiceManual. Because it's absolutely not-done to speak about this ONList, I'm mailing you directly. The ServiceManual is a 1.8 MB PDF-file. This manual is the handbook for official Apple technicians. With this manual on screen you can do all to the 8500. It's indeed not the best casedesign but still 10 X better as let say an iMac Rev. A/B. The first time you open it may cost 30-45 min. to do all reasonable changes in a working 8500 from unplugging to re-plugging.
