First of all: My XP comp is dead. The one I'm talking about is a Win 2000 Server comp, even though it's chip is Athlon "XP"
Someone says XP PC to me that means it's running Windows XP, though in this case it matters little, Win2K and XP are very similar.
Third of all: how do I set my Mac to access the shared internet connection/auto obtain the IP? I've already got it on the ethernet network.
Go to the TCP/IP control panel.
Set it to connect via the ethernet port.
Set it configure via DHCP
You may have to enter a valid name server address, which you should be able to get from your Win2K box by running ipconfig /all in a command window. look for the nameserver addresses on the internet side interface on the PC.
Close the CP and save the configuration. It should soon pick up an ip address from the Windows system.
This is from memory as I have no 7.5 systems around, but that's how it's set on my system 8 mac here...
