There is an issue with the IDE controler in the logic board. The OS
must appear within the first 8G.

This has exactly diddly and squat to do with 8.5.


I'd double check the master/slave configuration...if it's set to master and doesn't boot, try setting it to no designation, if its the only device on that bus (don't remember if the cd-rom and the drive are on one bus or not) Our beige G3 in the office was picky that way.
