Emerson SWITCHBOARD information 4 U !

I finally got around to getting this little gem. There are two kinds,
one is with Caller ID the other is without. Cost is 34 and 39 plus
shipping. Mine was 46 in total, made in China, where else!

Unit works just fine!

As you know, if on line with just one line, caller will get a busy
signal and you get nothing.

With call waiting, caller still gets a busy, provided you used *70 to
defeat the call waiting, and you still get nothing.

With call waiting, caller still hears a ring, provided you DID NOT
use *70 to defeat the call waiting, and you get dropped almost
immediately from your internet connection, but since only the tone is
sent and you can not hear it, you still get nothing. Your phone does
NOT ring, just the tone that you can not hear is sent, so you still
get nothing.

Now with the Emerson SWITCHBOARD, you DO NOT use *70, even with call
waiting, a call will ring the phone, overriding your internet
connection, which is dropped almost immediately, but you can
reestablish it after the call that you can now answer is completed.

Needless to say, if you are downloading an important program, go back
and set *70 just for this session, otherwise I can now allow a call
to override the computer connection, which is what I paid $ 40 bucks
for in the first place.

The instructions talk about you setting the modem S10 register to
255, but I was not able to find it or set it. This supposedly would
allow the internet connection to last for a short call without
immediately dropping, kind of a internet ON HOLD thing.

Bill Neill, ONE line-er!
