Does
>an audio CD mount, allowing you to see the tracks in

>Finder window?

When I place an audio CD in the drive, an audio cd
icon eventually appears on the desktop-- when that is
opened I can see the tracks in a finder window as
iTunes files. Double-clicking a track opens iTunes,
which then shows me the tracks and it will try to play
them, but nothing will happen. No sound, and the
little counter bullet won't move. I can import the
tracks to my hard drive, and then play them from
there.

The drive is a Yamaha 6416s, with the latest firmware
upgrade. I'm running 9.1 on a 7500 with a Sonnet G3
(266? 233?) card and 256 Mb RAM. iTunes is 2.04, and
Toast is 5.2.something. I bought the 'puter off eBay,
and so I don't have a System Install CD for 9.1, which
I am learning is a bad thing.

I tried using a standard black cd-audio cable I pulled
out of my PC which fit the burner and seemed to fit
the motherboard, but I wasn't sure if it was actually
making a connection or not. So, I clipped the end off
my old cd-audio cable, clipped the end off the pc
cable, and soldered together a hybrid, which is now
set up with the left and right channels and the middle
ground wires jumpered together. Still no luck.

Makes playin' Total Annihilation a drag....
