Hello,
I want to get a PCI graphic card for my PM8500 (XLR8 G3/360MHz), but I don't
know which one to choose... ;-( Could you help?
On general, I want it to speed up my current display, so that DivX movies
played smoother and iTunes visualization was faster. I would also like it to
have some form of 3D acceleration, so that playing Unreal Tournament was
still possible. (Now I use the standard display plus PCI Voodoo II card for
3D acceleration).
TV OUT is not essential, but TV IN (with some form of hardware mpeg
compression) would be a great addition.
I am using OS 9.2.2 right now, but as soon as I get more RAM, I am planning
to install Jaguar, so that it would be good (but not essential) that this
card supported QuartzExtreme, or whatever it is called ;-)
I also think about getting SCSI DVD drive, so that it would be good (but
again, not essential) if that card supported it (in a form of hardware MPEG
decompression, yet I don't know if it is possible on a PCI Mac...?)
And ;-) that card should be a PC (not Mac) version, but could be flashed to
be Mac-compatible.
Could you please tell me which card I should get? Or give some URLs with
information on that? BTW I assume that getting PCI video card _does_ speed
(2D) graphic display up? ;-)
