I'll second that. The Yamahas and Toast are very compatible and easy to use.
(I can use mine from OS 7.5.5 to OS 9.1) I use Toast 4.0.2, but this is with
an OEM 604e/200. Might need newer with a G3, but since I only use this Mac
for CD burning with a Yamaha 6416, I haven't bothered to upgrade it to G3.

Unfortunately they don't boot with the "C" key. You must either have the CD
drive set in the Startup Control Panel or boot by SCSI ID#. For burning CD
to CD I have the old OEM Apple CD Drive in an external case and the Yamaha
internal. (I had put the Yamaha into a 7600 to see if power draw and heat
would be a problem and was just too lazy to pull it out when I needed to copy
a CD. Stayed that way ever since.) The Apple drive will boot with the "C" key
while in the external case.
