Double check to make sure you have the Jag disk selected as the startup disk in Jag or else it may indeed boot back into 9.2.2 at cold start up. You should be booting into Jag every time unless you hold the option key, zap the pram, or have the wrong start disk select in the jag system preferences. If you were booted into 9, then yes you will always need to initially boot through xpostfacto to get back to being able to cold start in Jag on an unsupported machine.
