The 7100 is up to OS 9.1 capable. (Slow unless using a G3 upgrade though and
can tax the 136 Meg of RAM max of the 7100.)

No NUBUS USB cards were made, (USB didn't come into use until after the
replacement of NUBUS by PCI technology.) so the only way to use USB is via
the SCSI to USB adapters mentioned in another post to this thread. They were
(I don't know if they are still being produced) rare and thus expensive.
You might post to the Swap list. Someone there might have one or know where
they can be found.

I still have a G3 upgraded 7100 in my network and for many things it is
still a good viable Mac. I prefer the AV capabilities of my 8600/G3s and
even my 7600/G3s, but my 7100 pays its own way as a Fax server and using VPC
4/Windows ME a PC software capable Mac.

I'm curious as to where this "Free 8.5" download is located. The only things
I find on Apple's site are the 8.5.1 and 8.6 upgrades that have been
available free for a long time, but require "North American English Mac 8.5"
to work. 7.5.3 and its upgrade to 7.5.5 is the newest free full OS I can
find.
