I finally got around to purchasing the BOSE Wave Radio, $500 and $250
for the omitted, add on base allowing for three Aux inputs. At $750
for a radio, I must admit I expect perfection - it better dance and
not miss a beat!

I am sorry to report it is a mess.

Bose may be a good (not the best) speaker company, but they have no,
NO idea how to build a radio.

It has no RF Preamp for clear AM and FM, a major error. It is very
susceptible to RFI, they left out the line filters. It has a 9 volt
battery for backup power that has exhausted in 2 days. There are a
dozen more issues I have, but enough for this list.

As a solar powered home, I cut all power when not in use, and expect
this to not be a problem; it is not a problem for a Macintosh, the
clock and parameter battery lasts for 5 to 7 years maintaining the
initial settings and accurate clock time. The Wave radio gains 20
minutes in a 24 hour period, so much for Quartz clocks.

The wave radio is an EMBARRASSMENT to the Bose name and at the
outrageous price of $500 to $750 is an outrageous embarrassment.

I bet Zenith would never make such obvious errors in design.

Bill Neill.
