Yes, USB is recognized under 8.6, but you do need a system extension that probably is not installed. It is an easy download from Apple and is called USB device extension or USB support or something like that. The version I have is 1.4.1. There may be a later version but that may be for later versions of OS.

In other words, install your USB card, download and install extension into your system's extension folder, plug in your USB devices, and have fun with all your new toys. I have added a USB hub to my card because I have so much (2 printers, Wacom graphics tablet, trackball, camera card reader). By the way, it is not necessary to do it in the order I listed. I had everything plugged in before I knew about adding the extension.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't USB recognized under 8.6? meaning you install the card restart the machine and it should work right?
