I have been having troubles activating my old ScanMaker E6 scanner. It worked just fine when I installed it, using ScanWizard 3.x. Then the Mac had a fit of malfunctions (no, i didn't add any software or change any settings... it was completely spontaneous) and suddenly the Import function in PhotoShop became inactive. Got that sorted out and working again. Somewhere along the line I upgraded to ScanWizard 5.7.6. Now suddenly it insists that the scanner cannot be found. However I can see that the activity window shows that ScanWizard is not making any ATTEMPT to look for a scanner driver... all of which are there and active.
I thought that perhaps 5.7.6 was a bad installer and uninstalled it, then tried to reinstall ScanWizard 3.24.3.6... and the hand-counting-fingers came up and remained giving the fingers for minutes... had to restart. Tried the 3.24.3.5 installer... same result. So the installers, which worked fine before, now stall at the starting stage and jam the system.
What can I do?
The scanner is fine, the cable is fine, it's connected properly, all the necessary drivers etc are in place...
I HATE THIS MAC!
OK, I just managed to install 3.24.1, no problems, and it works first try.
