You need to install Apple's USB 1.4.1, I think that is the correct version number. Also: Upgrading to 8.6 might be a free download. If it is, you should go to 8.6, cuz it is regarded as better than 8.5.

Also,  if your PCI USB card has more than 2 USB  ports,
it is important to know that the 2 port cards are the most  reliable.
