I called Hitachi/IBM, since I found out that it's still under warranty (GREAT!). While the guy was looking something up & had me on hold, I played with the drive. He told me the factory default settings for the jumpers ( I didn't know what they were), so I did that an just for the hell of it, I started the Mac with all drives installed and the defaults. Sucker mounted right up! It was strange, though, as both hard drives were terminated then. So, I took off just the terminator's jumper, leaving everything else as it was. SUCCESS! WHEW! I was getting a little frustrated and angry there for a minute...
I'm formatting it right now, so all is well. Set for ID #2, Apple stock drive set for ID 0 as it was, with the CD-ROM set for ID 3, as it was.
I checked XLR8's site, and I knew this drive worked... lots of folks have them - they're fast, cool, and reliable. If you have a problem with your hard drive, I highly recommend looking here if you can't wait or don't want to bother the list folks.
I'm SO happy I managed (pretty much! :-) ) to get this working myself!
Thanks, & sorry to bother...
Michael
