Hello Everyone,

Warning: delving into this question may result in blindness or insanity.

Before I forget, let me preface this by asking: can anyone please tell me
the exact size/type of Torx(?) screwdriver needed to remove the cooling fan
built into the access door of the PM 9600 in case this whole thing turns out
to be worthwhile?

I'm already insane so it doesn't matter much. A T20 driver does the job. I didn't even realize some 8600/9600 have the torx screws. The fan in my 9600/350 is secured with philips screws, but the one in my 8600/300 case is torx.

And now on to the "real" question:

Can I salvage the fan that's attached to the access door of a PM 9600? I
assume I can because the fan is attached by four Torx(?) screws.

[snip]

The fan comes off, but it's hard wired to the contacts. You can always cut the wires and splice them to a standard fan connector, or for a neat job buy a connector kit and make your own.
