I'm running 9.2.2 on my 9600/g4/450 and 7500/g3/400 without a hitch. It's been the most stable OS I've run on these machines so far. (I haven't tried OS X yet.) At first I had some trouble after installing but traced it to two extensions: Classic Support UI and ProxyApp in the System Folder. Disabling these took care of the problems.

What make of accelerator? What hacks, if any, did you use to upgrade to
9.2.2? Did you start with 9.1? I have a 9.2.1 install disk that I
don't seem to be able to use in my 9600 w/ Sonnet G4/450 card. I'm
wanting to get to OS X eventually and hoping to be able to try 9.1 soon.

David,

The 9600/350 has an XLR8 ZIF Carrier, Six Slot Edition, with a G4/450 installed. The 7500/100 has an XLR8 ZIF Carrier, G3/400 installed.

The problem is that the 9600 and other PCI Macs can't boot anything beyond 9.1 without a hack. I started with OS 9 and used OS 9 Helper to get to 9.2.2. You first must install from an OS 9 or 9.1 retail CD, download the 9.2.1 and 9.2.2 upgrades from Apple's site, download OS Helper at os9forever.com and go from there.
