Hi guys, I was wondering if there was a place on the net that has a list of cd drives that work with a mac. I'm looking at replacing the internal drive on my 7600 with a burner (or a faster drive). The brands I'm looking at on ebay are; pioneer,toshiba, sony, ricoh.
Also I was wondering if any adaptec scsi card would work, or does it have to specify that its mac compatible?
Check the Owner's Reports at xlr8yourmac.com. The main issue is whether the burning software you have will support the drive. Even an HP SCSI CD-RW works fine in my 9600 because Toast 5 supports it. Finding a bootable CD-RW drive is another matter. Neither the HP or the Yamaha I had before were bootable.
An external burner might be the way to go.
