I gave up on my 8500 with the blown chip on the motherboard when the
opportunity of getting an 8600 presented itself, but it arrived today and is
worse - atleast the 8500 made the start up chime (but went no further). This
one has the light come on,fan and power supply work, hard disk sounds normal
but there it ends. It was sold as "tested and working well". I'm wondering
what might have happened in transit. I'm sure this has been covered before
but I can't access my files very easily...
This is what I have done:
Changed the battery
Pressed the hidden button (many times)
Tried various assorted and different RAM sticks
Tried the G3 Newertech CPU I had working in the 8500
Tried zapping the PRAM
Each time it is the same.
What else can I try?
Thanks for any suggestions.
