In this case, the network IS there! I mean, it works just fine after the
first five minutes. After doing nothing (and after I've hit button after
button, tried to pull-down this menu and that) it all of a sudden opens the
window, and jets through all the tasks I'd set it to do since start-up.

Could it be taking that long just to connect to the network? (It's a network
served by a Windows box, so maybe!)

68MB is low. I agree. But the system is taking up only 19MB, at least,
that's what it is taking without any apps running. The nearly identical Mac
I'm using in my office takes nearly 30MB up! The VM is set to only 1MB.
Should I up that or leave it the same?

I've never heard of CUDA! I'll zap the PRAM (just did that on the LC 575
that's sitting right next to the 7500). And do some more fiddling.

But the main problem is only right after start-up; it works fine now. No
lags.
