I have a 7600 hooked up to my windows network at home, through maclan, and by looking at the manual, I should be able to print to my HP4L on the windows network, but I need a driver. The manual talks about two places where I can buy commercial drivers, but I thought I would ask whether there is a freebie version available, like Chuck's Printer Driver, and if that would work. My HP is hooked via parallel port to the windows network, but it is shared across the network.
Am I trying to do the impossible? Do I need a Mac HP network driver or a parallel driver? Or do I need a network printer that will plug into the hub? Before I buy a driver, I want to make sure it will work with the parallel port HP4L on the windows side. Would appreciate any help.
