Still have 2 of these patches, one says its for 8 and the other for 8.6.
If I recall, iTunes was officially released under OS 8.6 - but not until after the original OS 9 version had already been released and was in response to considerable complaining from the loyal mac user base at the time, or so the story went...
(iTunes 1.1- still have that file also)


We used to use Sound edit (there's even an X version of it) ,VCD Gear,
Astarte CD-Copy and Audio Catalyst back in 8.6 & 9.0. As well as a few others. If I remember right,
we used to use Sound Edit to capture and then use VCD Gear to convert Aiff to Mp3 and vice versa and then toast it.
Sound edit does a great job even if you're forced to do the RCA 2 into one trick via the sound/mic port
on the older machines. Did it this way on a 7100 & 6400 and then burned to an external Scsi burner. O' so long ago :-)
