BTW, all 300 MHz Beiges were made as Rev. 2B (a very few) or Rev. 3C (most), 
so you machine really should have a Rev. C ROM.

The limitation is all in the ROM, not in the mobo.

Installing a Rev. B or C ROM in a Rev. a mobo will make that mobo support 
slaves.

If it has a Rev. A ROM, as mine presently does, then someone changed it, as I 
did to mine.

I don't run any EIDE/UATA hard drives on this machine, anyway. It is all 
UW-SCSI.
