I hope someone can help me with info on how Disk Warrior does it's
magic. I've read the manual but can find no info on the repair time
issue and what appears to be a stall...
My trusted 7600/G4 experienced a disk crash a few days ago. It's got a
120 GB WD Caviar /Sonnet ATA 133 card combination that's worked very
well for about 2 months.
Now the Mac goes through the start up sequence but right when the 3
partitions should appear on the desk top I get the freeze. The cursor
still moves but that's it. Force restart after waiting 15 min., and same
deal again. Zap. Extensions off. Done it all.
After starting from the DW cd and running DW I was able to bring 2 of
the three partitions back to life, but the 60 GB one is being stuborn.
DW has been on it for 18 hrs now and still nothing. It seems stalled at
step 5 - "locating directory data". The candy cane progress bar does not
appear to be moving. Can the process be that slow? I have been told that
steps 5 & 6 can take a while on large partitions but 18 hrs and counting
seems like a long, long time.

Any ideas or alternate recovery strategies would be appreciated greatly.

Al
