The same happened to me once. I had installed this new 10,000 rpm SCSI disk
and it wouldn't work with my other fast disk even though the SCSi ID's were
different. So I changed the ID and it started to work.
Perhaps the mechanism for changing the ID (pushing a button on the outside
of the case) is a bit flakey.
