My 9600 does have a problekm, though... it takes a minute or more after hitting the power switch for the thing to begin booting. There's a startup chime when i push the button, but the monitor remains blank for than minute or so... then it lights up and the 9600's bootup begins. I have no idea why this is happening. It does it with my 19" SuperMac too.

If you are talking about a cold start, then it's almost certainly the built-in memory check.
When I added memory to my 8600 the startup time increased dramatically. Now it;s about a minute before the monitor lights up and around 3 1/2 minutes to get to the OS 9 desktop.
