When I was having the same type of weird freezes, I tested my 9500 memory
this way:

Put in two memory sticks, at opposite ends (say, A1 and B6), then boot up
and run the memory tests. Knowing how much memory the OS was taking (About
this computer), I knew that the OS was most likely fully stuffed into just
one of the two sticks since they were easily large enough to hold the OS.

After running the memory tests for awhile without problems, I would then
switch the sticks and run the tests again. If again there were no problems,
then I felt comfortable that both sticks were trouble-free, and that the OS
was contained within one of the two (don't know which one).

Then I would the test the rest of the sticks by sticking them, one at a
time, in a middle slot, always leaving the other two still installed in the
opposing slots. So when the memory test fails, it's probably going to be
the stick in the middle.

This way I DID find the bad memory (actually, that memory stick worked fine
until I upgraded to a Sonnet G4, then it became flackey, so I installed it
in my girlfriend's 7500 with a G3 where it is quite happy...)
