Running OS 9.2 The desktop printer icon for our networked HP Laserjet has disappeared from the desktop of one of the Macs here. The Mac would still print, until yesterday. Then nothing would print.
I tried to use the Desktop Printer Utility to create another desktop printer, but it wouldn't allow it, because the other one was still there. But you can't see it. I trashed the appropriate printer description file in the Parsed PPD folder in the Printing Preferences folder in the System Folder and reinstalled a fresh copy. But that didn't fix it. Then the Mac developed a monitor glitch, and I reset the PRAM, which fixed the monitor (it kept blanking out and restarting). It also did something for printing, because then all the stuff that had been spooled but was "stuck" printed out. The Mac will print again, but the desktop printer icon is still hidden. How can I fix this? I probably haven't offered enough info, so ask the questions... Doug Hinschberger -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
