maybe you plugged the crossover cable into the 
uplink port on the hub, and since Mr Uplink is 
internally crossed over, the cables acts like a 
normal piece of CAT5. (Some uplink ports are on 
the side of the hub, others, they are the first 
port, and going from my hub, they're all in a 
line, but the uplink is kind of sectioned off.

Where U is the uplink and N are the normal ports, 
and if my diagram is clear enough, you can see 
the uplink and first port are next to each other, 
but separated.
