The problem is, and I HATE to say this... The other guys still support older hardware and Apple doesn't (of course, they don't make and sell the hardware either - at least not most of it). Apple has such a small percentage of the overall market (albeit loyal), and they made a corporate decision to leave a large percentage of the installed base behind in regards to their own corporate vision (that is, the "digital hub"). As a software developer myself, I understand their reasons, and their justifications. I'm not really complaining... It just struck me as odd, and I hadn't tried it on my Mac's yet. Back when System 7 came out Apple jumped through a lot of hoops to make sure as most of the OS calls were still valid (most of them still are in 9.x). I hate to see them ditch that strategy (its one of my many gripes with the "other" side), which, I guess, they didn't, or the classic environment wouldn't exist.
