i wonder why Apple removed a certain little
feature that, upon exiting either an application
or upon restart, System 6 emptied the trash on
its own.

nowadays it'd be useful at least on restarts.

It seems like the Eudora temp trash file contents revert to the inbox after a crash. Will Eudora be remembered in Recent Applications on restart.?
If so, then an Applescript in the Startup items folder could tell Eudora to empty trash on reboot. Before the content can go back to the inbox. If a script will work upon a program as it launches


Maybe Apple figures we know how to do this !
