I'm no IDE expert, but here goes.

I cannot remember have you used this drive for very long or are you installing it from another machine ?
Have you made sure all cable end and connection ports are VERY clean and tight. And inspected cables for damage ?
A nick in one wire can make a difference.


How about the card edge and slot? Clean and tightly seated ?

As for software. Are there older versions of drivers in the folder ? Or any other drivers for other interface cards that might interfere ?
That is, vie for the same hardware.


Finally , have you tried the card in a different slot ? Sometimes slots become unusable from dirt, corrosion, circuit failure or chip failure.
