I've got an Apple Studio Display (original purple-ish color) 15" LCD that I've got a few questions about. I bought it used on eBay recently, so I've got no manuals or experience with this display.
I can't get the telescoping neck to stay extended - is there some trick to getting it to lock into place? It doesn't appear to be broken, but I'm ignorant here (beyond identifying obviously cracked or missing parts).
The S-Video port doesn't seem to work. I've got my DVD player hooked up to it, but when I switch to the "video" source, no signal is found. The RCA ports work fine. Is there something special I need to do to get the monitor to look to the S-Video port?
Because it's Apple tradition, the on-screen controls disappear when the ADB cable is plugged into a Mac - instead of bringing up the OSD, they launch the Monitors control panel in OS 9.2. According to the Apple website, Apple Displays Software 1.7 has some special Apple Studio Display features (for configuring geometry, etc) that are needed to adjust the display. However, the installer installs a Monitors & Sound control panel which is patently incompatible with OS 9.2 - and OS 9.2's Monitors control panel doesn't have any options for adjusting the display. Does anyone have any ideas about this? Am I stuck with an un-adjustable display while booted in Mac OS?
Peace, Drew --
