I can understand the upgrade argument fully and usually if the computer
supports OS 8+ I will install it. The reason why I stayed at 7.5.5 with
this computer is that it runs *shockingly* fast under 7.5. I had been
running a later OS on it but when I decided to wipe it with the OEM CD I
was in awe of how fast it booted and how fast apps seem to run. Since all
of the server software that I am running works fine under 7.5 I decided
just to keep it where it was (at least for now but I can consider
upgrading).

Are there any major reasons why I should shed OS 7.5 on this Mac? The way
I see it, 7.5 *is* an older Mac OS without support for a lot of the newer
technologies and 68k baggage but at the same time it is tiny (relitively
speaking). Its lack of additional overhead despite its lack of features
seems to give it the advantage. And since it is sitting in a corner
serving files and handling random things without me needing to use it I
don't see the problem.

Despite the potential bus limitations I have always been impressed with
the 6500 series. They seem to perform very and in my case at least, I
cannot remember the last time that it crashed.

Are you talking about sustained performance possible on *this* Mac with a
U-ATA133 card or the 7x00 Mac?

Is installing one of these cards with a drive worth it for me? (And would
it even work with 7.5 or 8.1)

Thanks a lot!

Matt
