Hey I used OE for almost 10 years and never had a problem with it. Was it not the default mail app in all MAC OS's until mail, app arrived? Also seemed to be the easiest to configure (at least for the masses).
Now IE used to crash out a lot back in the day, until I learned how to clear caches and cookies after EVERY USE. Sometimes even during use. Then the crash while browsing became a thing of the past. Still use IE sometimes in X but this new little bug of not being able to make the cookies stay deleted (work around is to delete all but one) is enough for me to finally give it up for good.
If you really want "risk" and "microcrap" , go DL the power point 98 viewer for mac. It'll set off the first run in IE & OE the first time you use the PP viewer, causing you to loose all your bookmarks and addresses, etc. Thing is, it can cause it to happen more than once and without warning also. Had it happen several times. Then you'll have a good reason to hate microsoft, and/or dis-invite to easter dinner the family member who keeps sending you those stupid email attachments.
