The bus speed is less fast. 40Mhz.

"Flashing" a card changes its bios to work with a different
machine. PC to Mac or vice-versa. It's done with software that
overwrites the programmable chip on the card.

Google the model number of the drive. The maker's site will say if the
Drive does not.

Incompatibility is an issue. You gotta dig in and research
the better of the choices. Your G4 is fast enough to run a
decent USB printer. If you need a USB card, choose after checking
Mac-related sites for the card you want to buy.
