I used Norton "Personal Firewall" until I got a router.
Enjoyed it a lot. One nice feature was the ability to see who was knockng on our it does a lookup to see the registration and name of the owner. It was surprising to see the numbers of feelers.
I once pinpointed an intruder down to city, address and the row of flats where he was living using norton fw, imagine that !?
