<< But the question arises again. Even if NS 7 worked with OS 9 given the processor speed range that most of us on this list probably use ( say 75 - 450 MHz ) wouldn't we still perceive it as slower than the browser we are used to? Again because of the code bloat .
Yes, NS 7 may do better accessing of some sites and may be a valuable tool in your box for that reason, but something with a better balance and fit to our old machines would probably serve us better for general surfing. >> ---------------------- My reply: I've been using NS 7 for a couple of months on my 7300/200 and my 6100 g3/300 mainly because NS 4.8 had problems with sites I needed to access. Yes, NS7 is bloated and starts up much slower but once up and browsing it seems OK and I can access most sites I need. Overall, I judge it is the lessor of the evils. Lately I seem to be switching a lot between NS 7, NS 4.8 (for mail and Usenet), iCab and tonight I tried IE 5 (first time in a year or so). They all seem to have their pro's and con's. Maybe I try Mozilla 1.3.1 next? Too bad the today's HTML coding is so screwy. I still hand write the HTML tags for my business web site. Granted it is a simple site (no Java scripts or css) but any browser from the NS 2.0 on up should have no problem with quick access to it with its animated gifs and many other graphics and colors, as well as the commercial text content I thought that what the www was supposed to be about.
